Jochen Tilk joined the Emera Board of Directors in 2018. He is Chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and a member of the Management Resources and Compensation Committee and the Safety and Risk Committee.

Jochen is the Executive Chair of Nutrien Inc., a Canadian global supplier of agricultural products and services based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He was also the President and CEO of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan.

Previously, Jochen spent 25 years with Inmet Mining Corporation, a Canadian-based, international metals company, with five of those years as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer. During this time, he helped significantly grow the company’s market capitalization and led multi-billion-dollar capital expenditure programs.

He is currently Chair of the Board of AngloGold Ashanti Limited, a publicly listed international gold mining company based in London, U.K. He is also Chair of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, a non-for-profit organization in Toronto, Ontario. He is the former Chair of the Board of Canpotex Limited and a former Director of the Fertilizer Institute and the International Fertilizer Association. 

Jochen received his Master’s in Mining Engineering from Rheinisch-Westfalische Technische Hochschule, a research university located in Aachen, Germany.
