Janelle Poole
Vice President, Corporate Affairs
Janelle Poole is Vice President, Corporate Affairs at Emera Inc., responsible for all aspects of corporate communications for the company. This includes employee communications, media relations, public disclosures, brand, digital strategy and community investment.
Prior to joining Emera in January 2024, Janelle spent 22 years at Microsoft Corporation in the United States and Europe. During this time, she held various senior leadership roles, most recently as General Manager, Global Public Affairs where she led the team responsible for public facing communications strategies supporting the company’s ESG efforts, as well as European and UN Affairs. Janelle is experienced in developing and leading strategic communications including for complex M&A activities, product launches and global initiatives, and crisis management. She is an experienced people and team leader.
Janelle’s prior work experience also includes marketing communications at Bell Aliant (then Aliant/MT&T) in Halifax and The Halifax Herald Limited as an editor for its publications division.
Janelle earned her honours degree in Journalism from the University of King’s College in Halifax and holds an Accredited Business Communications (ABC) designation from IABC. She is a Board Member of Devour! the international food and film festival.
