Mike Barrett

Executive Vice President, Legal & General Counsel, Emera Inc.

Mike joined Emera as General Counsel in 2017 and was appointed Executive Vice President, Legal & General Counsel in July 2022.

In this role, Mike holds executive responsibility for Legal, Audit Services, Regulatory Affairs and the Office of the Corporate Secretary.

Prior to joining Emera, Mike had a successful career in private practice including as Senior Partner and head of the power and climate change practice groups at Bennett Jones LLP in Toronto.

In addition to his Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University, Mike also earned a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, York University.

Mike holds the Institute of Corporate Directors ICD.D (Certified Director) designation and is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers Society, the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association.
