Mike Roberts was appointed Chief Human Resource Officer at Emera in 2014.

 

In this role he oversees the organization’s people strategy and works closely with operating company leadership on talent management including performance management, leadership development, inclusion & diversity, total rewards and talent acquisition. In 2020, he led the pandemic response for the organization, collaborating with all of Emera’s businesses. He is also responsible for the Office of the Chief Digital Officer for Emera Inc. 

 

Prior to joining Emera, Mike served as Vice President, Corporate Development for Irving Shipbuilding where he was responsible for communications, human resources, labour relations, health, safety and security.

 

Earlier in his career, Mike held senior positions with telecommunications leader Bell Aliant, including Vice President, Human Resources and Vice President, Regulatory and Government Affairs.

 

Mike is active in the community and currently serves as the Vice-Chair for crown corporation Develop Nova Scotia (formerly Waterfront Development),  the Student Affairs and the Audit Committees for Mount Allison University and the Human Resources Committee for Nova Scotia Health Authority. He has previously served on the board of COVE, the board of the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

 

Mike is a graduate of Mount Allison University and obtained his Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA) designation  in 1991.
