Peter Gregg is Executive Vice President, Strategy and Policy at Emera Inc., a role he assumed in March 2026. As a member of Emera's Executive Leadership Team, Peter leads Corporate Strategy, Government Relations, and Corporate Sustainability & Environment. He brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across Canada's electricity sector, with deep expertise in energy policy, corporate strategy, utility operations, and business transformation.
Prior to his current role, Peter served as President & CEO of Nova Scotia Power from 2020 to 2026 and was a member of Emera's Executive Leadership Team. During his tenure, he focused on strengthening the company's ability to deliver safe, reliable electricity while positioning the organization to support Nova Scotia's energy transition.
Under Peter's leadership, Nova Scotia Power advanced progress toward the province's emissions reduction goals through investments in renewable generation, grid modernization, energy storage, and environmental stewardship. He also provided steady leadership during increasingly severe weather events, including Hurricane Fiona in 2022, overseeing the company's preparation, response, and restoration efforts.
Before joining Nova Scotia Power, Peter served as President and CEO of the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), where he oversaw Ontario's bulk electricity system. Earlier in his career, he was President and CEO of Enersource, where he helped lead the merger of four Ontario utilities to form Alectra Inc., one of North America's largest municipally owned utilities. He also served as Chief Operating Officer of Hydro One Networks, leading transmission and distribution operations across Ontario.
Peter currently serves as Board Chair of Emera Newfoundland & Labrador and is a Board member of Tampa Electric and People's Gas. He holds an MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University and the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
